The Theotokos is a Rose which flourish a flower which is Christ. Symboles the Resurrection of Christ and for that reason is called "Ρόδον τὸ Ἀμάραντον". The expression is taken from the Akathist hymn. Because He is resurrected He will be the Judge at His Second Coming. For that reason he is depicted/iconized with royal vestment, crown and hold a sceptre. The Panaghia as Mother of the King is depicted as having the crown too. She is called "Pantanassa" (Queen of All).
